The Kombi EP5 is a true Swiss Army knife that grows with your family thanks to its compatibility with over 40 Yuba Add-Ons. From EZ Monkey Bars to keep the little ones safe, to comfy cushions and large baskets for teenagers' school bags, it can be customised to suit your needs at any given time.
With its generous 60 Nm of torque, this new-generation motor delivers smooth, natural and ultra-quiet assistance. It guarantees stress-free starts at traffic lights and literally flattens the steepest hills, even when the bike is fully loaded.
The Kombi EP5 is equipped with a high-performance 504 Wh Shimano battery. Unlike other models, it is not integrated into the frame, making it extremely easy to clip on, unclip, and recharge at home or in the office.
When it comes to range, there is no magic number. The battery life of your compact cargo bike depends on your environment and riding habits:
The level of assistance chosen: If you use Boost mode for a quick start, the battery will drain much faster than if you stay in Eco mode.
The total load on the bike: Carrying a passenger on the back or loading heavy packages requires more energy from the Shimano motor than riding empty.
The terrain of your journeys: Tackling steep hills consumes significantly more energy than a smooth ride on flat ground.
Weather conditions: Batteries don't like frost. In very cold winter weather, the overall range may temporarily decrease.
Your pedalling cadence: A pedalling cadence that is too low (pushing too hard) strains the motor. Aim for a fast, steady cadence to optimise range.
Road conditions: Riding on perfectly smooth tarmac offers a much better range than riding over city cobblestones or dirt tracks.
Cruising speed: Maintaining a high average speed continuously requires more electrical effort.
Your tyre pressure: Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance, forcing the motor to draw more power from the battery.
Wind strength: Riding into a strong headwind is like climbing an invisible hill and reduces the kilometres available.
On average, the actual range observed on the Kombi EP5 is between 30 and 70 km, depending on your riding profile.
