Why are we doing it?

Our goal is to make cargo bikes THE vehicle of choice for tomorrow, inspiring everyone we meet and making them more accessible.

But that’s not all. Every day, we take concrete steps—both in the design of our products and in our operations—to bring our vision of an environmentally friendly and socially responsible company to life. We know we’re not perfect, and the journey ahead is long, which is why this list of actions will only keep growing!

1- Reducing Plastic Packaging

Our development team works every day to minimise the use of plastics in our protective and packaging materials. For example, our Soft Spot cushions are packaged plastic-free, using only recyclable paper. For bikes, we prioritise honeycomb cardboard: less polluting, durable, and requiring fewer materials for a lightweight yet eco-friendly solution!

2- Reducing CO2 Emissions from Transportation

At Yuba, we prioritise rail transport to reduce CO2 emissions along our production chain. Our bikes travel miles by train before arriving in your garage! Additionally, we ensure that prototypes are made in France and Europe to avoid unnecessary journeys for small production runs. Plus, our containers are always optimally filled before shipping.

3- Recycling Bosch and Shimano Batteries

By collaborating with brands like Bosch and Shimano, we support the recycling of lithium batteries. Both are members of Corepile, so you can return your used batteries to our trained retailers. Thanks to these quality partners, we contribute to solutions that reduce the impact of this technology while expanding recycling networks.

4- 100% Renewable Energy in Our Offices

Near Annecy, our offices are powered entirely by renewable energy. Choosing an energy partner aligned with our values was important to us. We consume no fossil fuel-based energy, relying solely on renewable resources.

5- Committed to More Sustainable Materials

To design products that meet your needs and today’s challenges, we aim for a balance between ecology and durability. Our design team explores alternative materials, particularly for Add-Ons. For instance, we’ve developed the Front Eco Deck, an Add-On 100% Made in France from recycled plastic!

6- Encouraging Eco-Friendly Mobility for Employees

When a new employee joins our team, they’re loaned a personal electric cargo bike to encourage eco-friendly daily commuting. Bikes are also available for lunchtime rides to Annecy Lake, or when family is visiting. Some of our employees cycle more than 5000 km a year, rain or shine!

7- Social Responsibility

At Yuba, sustainability is a core value, but our commitment goes further. We also support social initiatives, such as collaborating with ESAT Parmelan for many years. This organisation provides intellectually disabled and autistic adults with the opportunity to engage in professional activities, fostering their independence. They assemble several of our Add-Ons, including the Front Eco Deck.

8- Promoting Local Prototyping

Working with local partners is essential for Yuba. Many companies trust us by using our bikes, and in return, we collaborate with French businesses to prototype our accessories, such as boxes and sideboards. This strengthens partnerships, reduces lead times, fosters synergy between industries, and minimises environmental impact.
