In France, a child bike seat is mandatory for all children under 5 years old (Article R431-11 of the Highway Code). The law requires the use of a seat specifically designed for this purpose, equipped with a suitable restraint system (such as a safety harness) and integrated footrests to prevent your child’s feet from touching the spokes.
