You’ll find here everything you need to know about how to safely transport your Yuba cargo bike — electric or not — on a bike rack, and in line with local Highway Code rules (be sure to check the regulations in your country).
YUBA BIKES WITHOUT ELECTRIC ASSISTANCE:
Most E-bike carriers are compatible with our non-electric cargo bikes (except the Supercargo). However, please make sure to check the following points before purchasing:
- Maximum load capacity of the rack: Most E-bike carriers are designed to carry bikes weighing up to 25 kg each, with a total load of around 60 kg. Our non-electric cargo bikes weigh 24 kg for the Kombi and 25 kg for the Mundo Lux, so you’re comfortably within the limits.
- Mounting system: Yuba bikes have a steeply sloped top tube, which may make it tricky to attach them by the frame on some racks. In that case, we recommend using the Thule Bike Frame Adapter.
- Bike length and wheelbase: Cargo bikes are longer than standard bikes:
Kombi = 192 cm (wheelbase: 1240 mm)
Mundo Lux = 212 cm (wheelbase: 1410 mm)
The Supercargo cannot be transported on a bike rack in France, as the Highway Code limits load width to 2.55 m. Since the Supercargo is 2.60 m long, we recommend using a van — or just pedal with a smile 🙂
YUBA BIKES WITH ELECTRIC ASSISTANCE:
Our electric cargo bikes weigh between 30 kg and 35 kg. Be sure to check this when choosing a rack, particularly its maximum load rating.
According to the Highway Code, your vehicle’s load must not exceed 2.55 m in width. All Yuba models — except the Supercargo CL — can therefore be transported at the rear of your vehicle. Your rack must be adjustable and accommodate the longer wheelbase of cargo bikes:
Fastrack = 190 cm (wheelbase: 1235 mm)
Mundo EP801 = 212 cm (wheelbase: 1410 mm)
Spicy Curry = 212 cm (wheelbase: 1420 mm)
Kombi E5 and E6 = 192 cm (wheelbase: 1240 mm)
Boda Boda = 200 cm (wheelbase: 1290 mm)
mini Boda Boda = 174 cm (wheelbase: 1140 mm)
